ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE
The International Training Centre is located in Nairobi, Kenya, at the Marie Stopes Eastleigh Nursing Home. Eastleigh has been a centre of quality health care for the local population since 1990, renowned for its commitment to providing family planning and emergency obstetric care (EmOC).
Formally opened in April 2007, the International Training Centre provides a much needed venue for training health care providers in reproductive health (RH) skills for use in emergency humanitarian situations. The Training Centre offers health professionals an opportunity to develop and update their clinical skills in a top-quality environment, thus enabling them to provide critical RH services upon return to the health facilities in which they work.
What We Do Best
We run fun, practical, and inspiring training taking the competency approach to a whole new level. Our training have been developed by trainers who have a wide experience in the field of reproductive health, which makes our courses practically a ‘field for the field’ experience.
Our clinical training courses are competency based and require active involvement by all participants. We employ the mastery learning approach, and believe that every participant will master the necessary knowledge and skills if given sufficient time and appropriate learning methods.
The facilitator and participants are in constant dialogue, and participants are given continuous feedback about their progress in learning new competencies. This learning environment is dynamic and comfortable because participants know what is expected of them and where to find the information they need, and have meaningful and ongoing discussions with their trainer.
ITC offers its courses in English and French and is currently on course to offer all the courses in Arabic.
